Hot on the heels of the discovery of code reference in iOS 6.1 beta, which hinted at 128GB iOS devices, 9to5Mac is reporting that according to their sources, Apple may be gearing up to launch 128GB versions of the iPad.Hot on the heels of the discovery of code reference in iOS 6.1 beta, which hinted at 128GB iOS devices, 9to5Mac is reporting that according to their sources, Apple may be gearing up to launch 128GB versions of the iPad.

According to 9to5Mac’s sources, it is most likely a 128GB version of the 4th generation iPad. According to the new SKUs provided by their source, the ‘ultimate’ configuration of the current iPad, will be available in black and white color options and will also come in Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi+Cellular versions.

The P101 and P103 names are Apple’s internal nomenclature for the WiFi-only and Cellular-compatible fourth-generation iPads, respectively. Both of those models comes in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB configurations. These storage sizes are known as “GOOD,” “BETTER,” and “BEST,” respectively. As you can see in our table above, Apple is preparing to release the additional “ULTIMATE” model. “ULTIMATE” frequently refers to the most premium or highest capacity model available. The “A” points to a black configuration, and “B” stands for the white option.

Apple has seeded the iOS 6.1 beta 5 for iPhone, iPad, iPad mini and iPod touch to developers of iOS Developer program.

Apple had seeded the last beta version of iOS 6.1 on December 17th and was expected to expire on January 28th, so the weekend release doesn’t come as a big surprise.

iOS 6.1 Beta 5 is available for the following iOS devices:

  • iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS,
  • iPad 4, iPad 3 (the new iPad), iPad 2, iPad mini
  • iPod Touch 5G, iPod touch 4G

Developers can download iOS 6.1 Beta 5 from the iOS Dev Center.

Here’s what we know is coming in iOS 6.1 based on the previous four beta versions:

According to security experts, Apple has made jailbreaking more difficult in iOS 6.1 by adding tougher protection. As a golden rule, jailbreakers should avoid upgrading to iOS 6.1 beta 5.

MuscleNerd of the iPhone Dev team and iH8sn0w, developer of Sn0wbreeze has pointed out that iOS 6.1 beta 5 isn’t like other beta versions as it has no ReleaseType lock keys, so there is no expiration.

winocm @winocm

Looks like iOS 6.1b5 isn't a beta, it activates without developer registration and has no ReleaseType lockdown keys.

This means that Apple could release iOS 6.1 without releasing an iOS 6.1 GM. Lets hope Apple hasn’t fixed any of the loop holes that would make it even more difficult to jailbreak iOS 6.1 as the hackers seemed to suggest they have a jailbreak for it.

Photojojo's iPhone Viewfinder suctions onto your screen for a more traditional shooting experience. Crazy-great, or just plain crazy?

iPhone Viewfinder 610x408

The good: Your iPhone has a pretty decent camera. Better than decent, in fact, if it's aniPhone 4S or iPhone 5.

The bad: Not everybody likes using the iPhone's screen to frame their shots, especially outdoors, where the ambient light can wash out the display. What's more, anyone accustomed to old-school, SLR-style photography no doubt misses their old-school, SLR-style viewfinder.

iPhone Viewfinder hand 270x265To the rescue comes the Photojojo iPhone Viewfinder, which combines hardware and software to give you a more traditional camera experience.

The kit consists of a round, black eyepiece that uses a suction cup to affix to your iPhone's screen. You then run Sig Innovations' free Daylight Viewfinder app, which shrinks the camera's live preview to a tiny window that rests just under eyepiece. (Incidentally, the Daylight Viewfinder itself is the same product Photojojo sells, but for 5 cents less -- plus free shipping.)

The end result is you squinting into a viewfinder, same as you would with a traditional SLR camera. In theory, this should allow for steadier shots, as you're bracing the whole shebang against your eye. And it should definitely block out ambient light, giving you more precise control over how you frame your shots.

Sure, you might look a little silly, but that's all relative, isn't it? (Some might argue that holding a big ol' SLR up to your face looks equally silly.) If you rely on your iPhone or iPad for semi-serious photography (and/or videography), this little gadget might prove very handy.

The iPhone Viewfinder sells for $30, plus a few bucks for shipping -- or $29.95 shipped if you grab it directly from the aforementioned Sig Innovations. What do you think? Worth the money?

An online petition calls NRA: Practice Range an "insult to the victims of gun violence" and is asking Apple to get rid of it.

nra-appA new shooting game bearing the NRA name has enraged a number of people who are now petitioning Apple to remove it from the App Store.

Released this past Sunday, NRA: Practice Range features a virtual shooting gallery in which you can fire at targets by tapping the screen. The app offers you a few handguns and rifles for free, but you can upgrade to such weapons as an AK-47 assault rifle or an MK-11 sniper rifle.

Compared with scores of other video games, NRA: Practice Range is rather tame, despite the ability to use assault and sniper rifles. You're not firing at actual people but rather static and moving targets, just as you would at an actual shooting range. But it's the timing of the app amidst the nation's concern over gun violence that has aroused much of the anger.

iphone-galaxy-s3Samsung’s Galaxy series of smartphones have seen a tremendous amount of sales lately, and have been, deservedly so, getting some good press for their achievements. Most recently, the Korean company revealed that they had, to date, sold a 100 million Galaxy S smartphones. But how does the iPhone compare to this figures?

Raymond James analyst Travis McCourt pulled up numbers for iPhone sales, and found that the iPhone still leads Samsung’s Galaxy S series of smartphones in sales numbers, and by a huge margin.

McCourt, in his research note, writes “We estimate Apple has sold approximately 219 million cumulative iPhone 4, 4S and 5 devices (which excludes sales of the original iPhone,iPhone 3G and 3GS) since the launch of theiPhone 4 in June 2010 vs. 131 million for Samsung’s Galaxy Series S and Note smartphones since the launch of the Galaxy S also in June 2010.”

Samsung doesn’t publicly reveal smartphones sales numbers every quarter like Apple does, so to obtain the number of 131 million, McCourt had to extrapolate current sales form Samsung’s periodic landmark sales announcements, like the one it made earlier this week. And even for Apple, which regularly releases sales data, McCourt had to apply a bunch of assumptions to extract sales for only the latest three generations of iPhones.

I've played enough games in the past, Contre Jour is one of the most fascinating in the market. The game is just like it was come out from a fairy tale, because in reality it is really inspired by fairy tale. The little hero of the game called Petit (named for La Petit Prince) is inspired by the namesake hero of the story "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

Since the beginning of the game, things that will amaze you is the very sleek design in gray palette with a touch of blue surreal, the incredible world of harmonic motion of Contre Jour and the excellent music that just takes you to a imaginary world.

Pac Man Dash

mza 3398023968220250360.175x175-75

Pac-Man has been around for over 30 years, but is usually relegated to munching in a maze. Like many other video game characters, Pac-Man has now made the transition to the endless runner in the form of Pac-Man Dash. It’s a fast paced 2D side scrolling sprint covering twisting pathways while collecting dot cookies, and ghosts. Rather than an endless set-up, there is a single concrete mission to complete in each level whether it’s running a certain distance, eating a certain number of ghosts or cookies, or using a special ability. It’s a whole new way to play Pac-Man, and a different way to play the endless runner style.
